Pool of Knowledge Close-up
Looking down into the pool of knowledge - the name given by Denis, my father-in-law, to this pond as it's the deepest of our three ponds. At least I believe that was his reasoning.
Photo Description
The features and plants in bloom are -
- Cottage garden features: Pond with island (bit too visible though, as is the edge on the left), fish and flower bed, background - pieces of driftwood from the North Sea and a rock from the waterfall.
NB: I rebuilt this pond in summer 2006, after this picture was taken in April/May 2006. - Cottage gardening flowers in the:
- Foreground - spiderwort and forget-me-nots.
- Pond fish - an orange variety of Leuciscus idus, the Ide, or Orfe. They don't root in the pond mud which helps to keep the pond as clear as glass.
- Background - star of Bethlehem.
